5 Ways To De-Stress

Exams suck. They do, and there are no two ways about it. But everyone has to do them no matter how difficult people find them. I recently discovered that I am not good with stress, I am a pretty organised and punctual person yet I still suffer with melt downs and panic attacks. It's normal. Just because you're clever doesn't mean you don't stress out.

So, let's kick stress right where it hurts with these simple tips and tricks:

1. To Do List
For me this is a fantastic organisation method that I believe helps a lot. I have a 'To-Do List' note pad which I used for simple 'To-Do''s such as 'prepare my bag for tomorrow', etc. Then I recently started using bigger 'To-Do' lists where is section it out by subject, for example: Maths - Revise, stay back, practice paper. To see these tasks down on paper is a lot better than having them floating around my head. I also think the relief of being able to tick things off really helps lift a weight off your shoulders.

2. Indulge in your interests
A way of making sure you don't get too bogged down with constant work is to allocate yourself a certain amount of 'freedom' time every night or so. I like to get all of my work done when I get home then use the rest of the evening to go on tumblr, browse blogs or read. I also like to go to bed earlier than I intend on going to sleep so that I can scroll through my phone for a few hours; I also find that this helps relax me and ensures a better night of sleep. The only issue is that you must make sure your work is done before leisure.

3. Write about it
I recently had a massive melt down where stress overtook me and I found that one of my solutions was to write about it. Simply open your 'new post', 'notes' on your phone, a notebook or even word/pages and just spill all of your emotions onto the screen. An interesting thing that I felt helped calm me down was to trying and make it as well written and as sophisticated as I could and I found this helped because it took my mind off the actual stress and more on the writing. Once you've done it no body has to ever see it... you can leave it un-saved or post it to the world, it doesn't matter as long as you feel less stressed.

4. Plan ahead and be on schedule
The obvious solution to getting rid of stress is by stopping the stress getting there in the first place. By being punctual and planning ahead our stress levels can be healed. I understand it's not abut work it can just be about difficult situations, therefore try and solve these solutions before they build up and cause you to over-stress.

5. Talk To Someone
During my recent stress-overload I confined in my friend that helped me soooo much and I can't thank her enough. 'Sharing is caring'. The best thing to do is to tell someone on the same level as you. I spoke to her because she is in the same position as me with exams. I also spoke to my teacher (oh, along with another breakdown) who I found related also because she knew exactly how it all worked and she saw situations like this every year. Basically, don't be afraid to talk to someone.

Writing about how to de-stress
helped me de-stress because these tips are
what I will be taking on board too.

I hope this helped :)
